About the SEDGs Cell

The SEDGs Cell of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has been constituted in accordance with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines relating to equitable opportunities for Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in Higher Educational Institutions.

The Cell aims to ensure equal opportunities and an inclusive, supportive and discrimination-free educational environment for students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups. It facilitates academic support and guidance, provides information regarding scholarships and welfare schemes, and addresses students' problems and grievances.

Key Responsibilities The SEDGs Cell is responsible for:

  • Ensuring equal opportunities for students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups.
  • Promoting an inclusive and discrimination-free educational environment.
  • Providing academic support and guidance to SEDGs students.
  • Creating awareness regarding scholarships and welfare schemes available to eligible students.
  • Providing necessary guidance and assistance to students regarding available support mechanisms.
  • Receiving and addressing problems and grievances of SEDGs students.
  • Taking necessary action for the resolution of students' concerns and grievances.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of the actions and activities undertaken by the Cell.
  • Submitting reports of the activities and action taken, as required, before the competent authority.
  • Coordinating with relevant University authorities and units wherever necessary to ensure effective support to SEDGs students.

Objective

The SEDGs Cell seeks to promote equity, inclusion and equal access to quality education for students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups. It works towards ensuring that such students receive appropriate academic support, guidance, information regarding scholarships and welfare schemes, and an effective mechanism for addressing their concerns.

The Cell also maintains records of the action taken on matters brought before it and submits necessary reports to the competent authority.
